Upcoming Goals

Thanks to Raul Pacheco on Twitter, I have decided to set my own goals for 2010.  In addition, thanks to Taylor “Loren” on Twitter, I have decided to use Lululemon Goaltender to set my goals.

According to the website, “a goal is a written, measurable statement with a specific subject and a deadline.  A goal is a milestone in the creation of [us] ideal life.  A goal is what inspires [us] to do the work everyday.”

On the website, it has 3 categories of goals – career, personal, and health.  My goals are as follows:

Career

  • 10 Year Goal – By 2020, I will become a Member of Parliament in Canada for the Conservative Party of Canada.  I will have passed my first private member bill by then.  I hope I will have the honour to serve under the government of the Right Honourable Prime Minister Stephen Harper.  I will be running in the newly created riding that has Westwood Plateau in it.  Due to the bi-polar official opposition, who knows which year I will be able to run.
  • 5 Year Goal – By 2015, I will become a Member of Legislative Assembly in British Columbia with the BC Liberal Party.  While I am a Member of Legislative Assembly, I will deliver a viable and effective public transportation system for all British Columbians.  I hope I will have the honour to serve under the assembly of Honourable Premier Gordon Campbell.  The next election will be held on May 14, 2013.  I will make sure I become a candidate by then.  I will run in either Coquitlam-Maillardville or Coquitlam-Burke Mountain.
  • 1 Year Goal – By 2011, I will become a City Councillor in the City of Coquitlam.  This 1 year goal is effective until the end of 2011.  During this time, there will be 1 by-election (March 2010) and 1 civic general election (Nov 2011).

Education

Health

  • 10 Year Goal – By the end of 2020, I will have the ability to walk 4 polls a day.
  • 5 Year Goal – By the end of 2016, I will have the ability to walk 3 polls a day.
  • 1 Year Goal – By the end of 2011, I will have the ability to walk 2 polls a day.
  • When not doing data entry or IT stuff during federal, provincial, or municipal elections, I will be doing door-knocking.  Unless I am a Member of Legislative Assembly or Member of Parliament, I will be out helping during every election – federal, provincial or municipal.

For those who are not interested in politics, electoral districts are divided into smaller geographic sections called polls (also known as polling division).  A list of electors and a polling station is set up for each polling division.  There are usually 6-12 polling stations set up at each polling location (usually a church or school).
