WhatsApp Messenger is a smartphone application that allows you to message other WhatsApp users, similar to Blackberry Messenger on Blackberry. WhatsApp Messenger is available for Blackberry and iPhone (and the iPod Touch). It will be available for Android and Nokia Symbian very soon.
After you download WhatsApp from the iPhone App Store or the Blackberry App World, WhatsApp will look at your iPhone/Blackberry contacts for other users who also use WhatsApp. It will automatically add those users to your contact lists. You do not have to waste time adding your friends one by one.
The functionality of WhatsApp Messenger is very similar to SMS/MMS. You can send messages to your friends. You can share images, videos and audio messages to your friends as well. There are no borders between the messages that you send. In other words, you can send your WhatsApp message from Canada to your friends in Hong Kong, Australia and South Africa for just the cost of your data plan.
With this app, you will get push notifications when you receive a message. You can see if your friend is online (having the application open) and it will tell you when they were last online if they are not online. You can also see if your friends are typing a message. You can see if your messages have been delivered (one check mark beside the message) or read (two check marks beside the message).
You can find more information on their website or at the AppStore! The App was formerly free, but it is now $0.99.
