Graphic Design
Introduction to fundamental design principles for visual communication. Organized as a continual interplay of theory and practice, students will examine historical, philosophical, perceptual and semiotic approaches to understanding graphic design, and will explore principles of form, such as structure and composition, hierarchy, form, color, space, scale, typography, and legibility and readability through hands-on projects. Traditional time-based and interactive media forms will be compared and contrasted.

A lot less interactive then IAT 100, it is more design oriented in a traditional sense. Course involves some InDesign and Illustrator use. Photoshop knowledge is an asset especially if you do the magazine layout redesign, since your scanned images might need some tweaking. The following assignments involve a product design and a poster design. This is all dependent on the teacher so it might vary. An interesting course, also has a writing assignment but it isn’t bad. Can be time intensive like any IAT course.
